As some of you will know I was privileged to be brought up in a Christian home and my Mother and Father were members here at Larbert Baptist Church.
I regularly attended Sunday School, Christian Endeavour, Bible Class and Youth Fellowship but all that didn’t make me a Christian.
It was during a Crusade in Falkirk Ice Rink which was held for a week in May 1969 that I gave my heart to the Lord.
It was a Leighton Ford Crusade, which a lot of you will probably remember, I was singing in the choir, the first time I had sung in such a big choir, it was quite an experience and Leighton Ford made an appeal each night at the end of the meeting for anyone who wanted to give their heart to the Lord to go forward to the front and one night I plucked up the courage to go forward and made a decision that night to follow Jesus.
I was baptized a few years later in the old Church and was a member until Matthew and I were married in 1974 and at the end of that year I transferred my membership to Airdrie Baptist Church where I attended for just over thirty years and got involved in different areas of the Church life.
In the Autumn of 2004 we were feeling led to move through to Larbert and we prayed about this and after giving it a lot of consideration we just felt it was the right thing to do. Even the way we were able to sell our house in Airdrie and get another one in Stenhousemuir in less than one week made us feel that it was he Lord’s leading so since we came here in 2005 we have settled in very well to the Church and have been blessed very much by the preaching.
I suppose it was just like coming home for me, we are both very happy at Larbert Baptist Church and just seeking to serve God in whatever way we can.
