As many of you will know, I was brought up in a Christian home. My parents were, and still are, sincere and faithful people who set a good example to me and my two older brothers. When I was 9 years old I realised that the only way to heaven was through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the fact that He died for me on the cross. Perhaps two incidents in previous weeks had concentrated my mind even at that young age … being involved in a car crash and falling in a river (without being able to swim!). I trusted Jesus as my Saviour and have had no reason to doubt that step over the past 28 years. At 16 I felt that God wanted me to obey Him further so I was baptised and added to my local church at the Ebenezer Hall—a brethren assemble in Kirkintilloch. It was through our churches that I met Morna and we were married in 1995 and set up home in Falkirk, attending the Gospel Hall in California (Scotland, not USA!). God has blessed us with 3 children—Matthew (9), Melissa (7) and Stefan (4) who keep us busy but we are very thankful for them. I have been involved in children’s work for 20 years and for the past two and a half years, since being involved in Larbert Baptist, we have continued the Sunday School at the Community Hall in California. The past 6 months have been particularly encouraging as we have had help and support from people in the Church who have shared in this work. A dozen or so children regularly attend as well as two 17 year olds, Tracy and Catriona. Morna has been doing the “Christianity Explored” course with them during which they have confirmed their faith in Jesus as their Saviour and continue to learn more about the word of God. Please continue to pray for all these children and the ongoing work as your prayers are a great comfort and support to us. In the New Year, Morna and I intend to do the “discipleship course” with two of the folks at Larbert and both of us are looking forward to the interaction and the challenges that will bring. Thank you for your fellowship and support and we trust that God will bless us all in 2007. Douglas Morrison
